Signs you may have a bed bug infestation
Do you sometimes wake up itchy in the middle of the night?
Do you wake up in the morning with rashes/ welts you can’t explain? You might have bed bugs. If you have any of these signs, a bedbug infestation can be lurking under your box spring.
- Blood stains on your sheets or pillowcases
- Dark or rusty spots on sheets and mattresses, bed clothes, and walls
- Fecal spots, egg shells, or shed skins under your headboard, under mattress, on box spring
- An offensive, musty odor
Most bedbug bites are painless at first, but later turn into itchy welts. People who don’t realize they have a bedbug infestation and blame the itching and welts on pests like mosquitos, especially during the warmer months. What makes bedbug bites different is that they usually are in clusters of 3 or more bites, sometimes in a row. They feed by piercing the skin and drawing blood through an elongated beak. The bugs feed for three to 10 minutes then crawl away undetected. Generally it is the most efficient choice to hire a pest control professional for bed bug identification and extermination.
